Circumferential Body Contouring

Sculpting the Entire Torso, Not Just the "Problem Areas"

The Internet says: You can spot-treat your way to a new body.

The Reality: Your body is three-dimensional. Treating the front without the back is a geometry error.

If you’re on this page, you have likely scrolled past hundreds of "snatched" waists on Instagram. You know the term Lipo 360. In Atlanta, it’s practically part of the local lexicon. But there is a massive gap between the edited reels you see online and the physiology I see in the operating room.

Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure. It isn’t a substitute for a healthy lifestyle. It’s a tool for refinement.

We aren’t just removing unwanted fat here. We are managing transition zones. The goal is to create a seamless flow from the ribs to the waist to the hips. That requires addressing the entire midsection, front and back.

What is Lipo 360?

Redefine your look

Lipo 360 is simply a concept. It means treating the trunk circumferentially, 360 degrees around.

When I plan a treatment area for circumferential body contouring, I am looking at four distinct zones:

  1. Upper & Lower Abdomen: The canvas.
  2. The Flanks: The "love handles" that destroy your silhouette.
  3. The Bra Roll/Mid-Back: Often ignored, but critical for a smooth look in clothing.
  4. The Presacral Area: The triangle right above the tailbone.
  5. By addressing all four, we avoid the "boxy" look that happens when you only remove localized fat deposits from the stomach.

Visceral vs. Subcutaneous Fat

The Internet says: Lipo sucks out your belly.

The Reality: Lipo only sucks out the fat you can pinch.

This is the conversation nobody wants to have, but we need to have it. There are two types of fat.

  • Subcutaneous Fat: The soft, squishy stuff right under your skin. This is what we target with liposuction surgery.
  • Visceral Fat: The hard, firm fat located behind your abdominal wall, wrapped around your organs.

Before you book a consultation, do a self-test. Push on your stomach. If it feels hard and round, like a drum or a keg, that is visceral fat. Liposuction techniques cannot touch that. It would be dangerous. Visceral fat only responds to diet and exercise.

If I operate on a patient with high visceral fat, they won’t get a flat result. They will just get a smaller round stomach. I turn many patients away for this reason. I need you to be at a stable weight with a soft abdomen to ensure optimal results.

Lipo 360 vs. Tummy Tuck

The Internet says: Just get Lipo, you don't need the scar.

The Reality: If your skin is loose, removing the fat will make it look worse.

Think of a balloon. If it’s full of air (fat), the surface is smooth. If you let the air out, the rubber wrinkles.

If you have loose skin from pregnancy or massive weight loss, or if your abdominal muscles are separated (diastasis recti), liposuction results alone will disappoint you. You might be smaller, but your skin will hang like a deflated sail.

In those cases, you don’t need fat removal alone; you need a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty). A traditional tummy tuck removes the excess skin and repairs the muscle wall. Yes, it leaves a scar. But a flat stomach with a scar looks infinitely better than a wrinkled stomach without one. During your personal consultation, I will assess your tissue quality to see which bucket you fall into.

Lipo 360 vs. Tummy Tuck: Which Do You Need?

Feature Lipo 360 Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Primary Goal Remove fat and sculpt shape Remove loose skin and repair muscle
Addresses Skin? No. Relies on your skin shrinking back naturally. Yes. Surgically removes sagging or wrinkled skin.
Addresses Muscle? No. Does not fix the "mommy pooch" or muscle separation. Yes. Tightens separated muscles (Diastasis Recti).
The Scar Tiny, 4mm dots (fades to invisible). Hip-to-hip incision (low, hidden by underwear).
Recovery 5–7 Days social downtime. 2–3 Weeks social downtime.
Best Candidate Good skin elasticity, stubborn fat, no muscle separation. Loose skin, stretch marks, or muscle damage (post-pregnancy/weight loss).

The Lipo 360 Procedure

The Internet says: Lipo sucks out your belly.

The Reality: Lipo only sucks out the fat you can pinch.

This is the conversation nobody wants to have, but we need to have it. There are two types of fat.

Lipo 360 Recovery

The Internet says: You’ll be in a bikini in two weeks.

The Reality: You will be swollen. You will be uncomfortable. You will live in foam.

Recovery is where the work happens. The surgery removes the fat, but the healing process determines the shape.

You will wake up in a compression garment (faja). This is non-negotiable. It presses the skin down against the muscle so it can re-adhere flat. If you take it off too early, fluid fills that empty space (fluid accumulation or seroma), and scar tissue forms irregularly.

The Swell

For the first three weeks, you might look bigger than you did before surgery. It is normal. The lymphatic system takes time to flush out the fluid. We often recommend professional lymphatic massage to speed this up.

You can return to a desk job in about 5 days, but no heavy lifting or gym workouts for at least 3 weeks.

The Cost of Lipo 360

The Internet says: You can get this done for $3,000.

The Reality: Cheap surgery is expensive to fix.

Liposuction cost varies based on the time required and the complexity of the case. When you see bargain-basement pricing, ask yourself what is being cut. Usually, it’s the anesthesiologist or the facility accreditation.

At Atlanta Plastic Surgery, our pricing reflects the safety of a hospital-grade environment and the expertise of a board-certified plastic surgeon. We are transparent about fees. Anesthesia, facility, and garment are discussed upfront. We also accept financing like CareCredit because we believe patient safety shouldn't be compromised by budget.

Why Choose Atlanta Plastic Surgery for Lipo 360?

The fat won't come back

In a city saturated with lipo chains and providers who learned body contouring in a weekend course, the most critical decision you make is who holds the cannula. As a board-certified plastic surgeon within Atlanta’s longest-standing practice, I approach Lipo 360 not as a commodity, but as architectural refinement. My background in complex microsurgery provides a distinct advantage: the tactile sensitivity required to splice tiny nerves is the same precision needed to sculpt fat blindly without causing divots, ripples, or irregularities. We don't chase volume; we prioritize the smooth, seamless transition zones that separate a surgical look from a natural silhouette.

Crucially, I value your safety and long-term satisfaction over filling my operating schedule. I do not perform assembly line surgery or cut corners with awake protocols to bypass safety regulations; every case is performed in an accredited facility with a board-certified anesthesiologist. More importantly, I am willing to tell you "no." If your concern is visceral fat (which lipo cannot fix) or if your skin elasticity is too poor for a smooth result, I will be honest. I measure success by the quality of your outcome, not the number of cases I book, ensuring you never pay for a procedure that won't deliver the result you expect.

Stop Guessing. Get Assessed.

You can read about plastic surgery in Atlanta all day, but you won't know what’s possible until I feel your tissue. Schedule your liposuction consultation with Dr. Mirzabeigi. Let’s create a treatment plan based on anatomy, not algorithms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the fat come back?

We remove fat cells permanently. They don’t grow back. However, the remaining fat cells can still expand if you eat poorly. If you gain 20 pounds, it will go to untreated areas (arms, thighs) or the visceral fat. A balanced diet is required to maintain your ideal body contours.

Can you transfer the fat?

Yes. Lipo 360 is the first step of a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). The fat we harvest is "liquid gold." We can purify it and transfer it to the hips or buttocks. We can also use it for breast augmentation (in small volumes) or facial plastic surgery volume replacement.

What if I have stretch marks?

Liposuction does not remove stretch marks. In fact, deflating the area might make them appear closer together. Only a tummy tuck or excess skin removal can eliminate stretch marks.

Can I drive home?

No. You are under general anesthesia. You need a responsible adult to drive you.

Do you use laser or ultrasound?

I typically use Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL). While ultrasonic liposuction (like VASER) uses ultrasound energy to melt fat, I find PAL offers superior control for sculpting without the risk of thermal burns to the skin.
